What Is Earth Watch Patrol (E.W.P) ?
Earth Watch Patrol began in the 1993/1994 school year. Earth Watch Patrol is responsible for recycling mixed paper, aluminum, books and cardboard at Hughesville High School.
Why have students participate in Earth Watch Patrol?
Students who participate in E.W.P. earn community service hours which they need to graduate. The students also become a part of PA Water Quality Monitoring Program by testing Muncy Creek. The students also help save landfill space and resources by recycling. The students also get to enjoy camping, horseback riding, canoeing, and hiking.
Does Earth Watch Patrol really work?
Last year Earth Watch Patrol recycled 11.20 tons
of materials! Out of the 11.20 tons 1.79 tons was in corrugated cardboard,
722 lbs. was in aluminum cans, and 9.05 tons was in mixed paper. I think
that E.W.P. is a success and will continue to be a success.
